Roman Baths

We visited the Roman Baths in Bath where the Romans used to bathe.

Roman baths were like our sports centres. They were big buildings with swimming pools, changing rooms and toilets. They also had hot and cold rooms.  They built them on hot springs so the water could be hot.  The water wasn't green then as it is now as they would have had a roof over the baths to stop sunlight helping algae grow.

The baths were built around 67AD and the Romans kept adding more and more baths for four hundred years until the empire crumbled over 1000 years ago!
